(Seguin) — The city of Seguin is about to get a new Visitor’s Center. The Seguin City Council on Tuesday approved the purchase of a building located at 200 South Austin Street, across the street from Central Park.

Kyle Kramm, who serves as both director of the city’s Main Street Program and director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, says this will be a great location for them to operate.

“We’ve been talking about purchasing this building to be offices for the Main Street and Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as a Visitors Center and provide one public restroom in downtown as well that would be open from 8 to 5, the hours of the Visitors Center,” said Kramm.

The city has plans to eventually build another public restroom in the downtown area, but this new location will become a short-term solution, until the city develops a plan for a larger public restroom facility.

The city is spending $482,000 to purchase the building, and it will spend another roughly $120,000 to get the building ready for its new use. That will put the estimated total for the project at $600,000. The financing for the project is expected to be formally approved during a future council meeting.
