On Your Marks, Get Set, Shop Saturday!

(Seguin) — Seguin will be the site for a marathon – a shopping marathon that is. On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is Small Business Saturday – a day to celebrate the small businesses that make our community a great place to live and visit. In observation of Small Business Saturday, Seguin will be hosting the Small Business Marathon.

The Small Business Marathon is all done using the Visit Seguin, TX app available to download for free in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Shoppers will check in while they are shopping and dining at Seguin’s small, independently owned stores and restaurants.

Prizes will be provided to those who complete the half marathon – checking into 13 businesses – and those who complete the full marathon – checking into 26 businesses.

“There are four steps to participate in our Small Business Marathon,” said Kyle Kramm, Seguin Main Street & CVB director, “First step is to download the app, then create an account in the app. Once you have an account, go to the challenges button and find the Small Business Marathon challenge. After you pull up the challenge, scroll through the list of businesses to find where you are and then select the business and hit the check-in button.”

Over 80 local businesses are listed in the challenge and they are spread out over all of Seguin. There is no requirement to make a purchase at all the locations, just “check-in” through the app.

Several businesses will also have Small Business Saturday swag to pass out – there are limited quantities so you will want to start the day early to get your swag.

“We hope people will have fun going out to explore all the small businesses in Seguin,” said Kramm, “These small businesses provide so much for the community and between Small Business Saturday and the holidays, it is truly a time for the community to show them the support they deserve.”

Small Business Saturday and the Small Business Marathon is on Saturday, November 25 and you can check-in at the stores during their regular business hours. After the marathon, Seguin Main Street staff will make contact with the “runners” to send them their prizes.
