(Seguin) — The Seguin community is making sure everyone has a seat at The Table this Thanksgiving weekend.

The city of Seguin with the help of a host of various churches and organizations will again be serving a complimentary Thanksgiving meal to all residents on Sunday, Nov. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Seguin Coliseum. This marks the second year in which the community will be hosting “The Table -A Community Thanksgiving Meal.”

Speaking on behalf of the groups who will all be rolling up their sleeves that day is Dan Meyers.

Meyers says approximately 1,000 barbecue chicken plates will be served on a first come, first serve basis. He says the idea is to simply build community.

“What we are trying to do is model what Jesus would have us do which is to care for other people. We want to provide for the community. We want to make sure that the focus is on The Table and that the needs of people are being met and that we are helping to grow community,” said Meyers.

Meyers says volunteers have spent weeks and months preparing for the event and look forward to serving all those who stop by for a warm holiday meal. Plus, he says there will be activities for kids and prayers for those requesting one.

“This is going to be a safe place that everyone is welcome. No one will be turned away. It doesn’t matter where you are from, what’s your walk of life, we want you to be there to enjoy that meal with us,” said Meyers.”

Again, the free holiday meal is being made possible by the generosity of local businesses, organizations and citizens in the community, along with the numerous volunteers who will all graciously donate their time to prepare and serve food.

The Seguin Coliseum is located at 950 S. Austin St.
