Pool to be closed an extra day
(Seguin) —    Get ready to dive into summer with this season’s opening of the Seguin Wave Pool. The pool will officially open this Memorial Day weekend, operating Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The season will continue through Sunday, Aug. 13.

Last year, the city’s park and recreation department, reopened the pool after undergoing some much needed improvements. Erica Taft, the assistant parks director, says last year’s relaunch of the pool and summer success makes this year’s upcoming water season even more exciting.

However, one important thing to note this year will be the days of operation. Taft says the pool, which has normally been closed on Mondays, will be closed an extra day.

“This year, we figured out what works and we are not really making any other changes other than being closed an extra day. We want to make sure that people had the best experience, and that staff are rested and rejuvenated and that (they) are not too tired from having a really hectic week,” said Taft.

Taft says other than being closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, not much else has changed and hopes that families come out and cool off.

“We are having a few more items in concessions like cotton candy but people are still more than welcome to bring their own items. Tables aren’t reservable. They never were so if you want to be guaranteed a table, get there early. Also season passes are the best deal,” said Taft.

Last year, season passes were made available. Cost is $50 per person or $125 for a family up to six people.

The pool will be open Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Cost is free for kids 0 to 3; $5 for ages 4-11; $6 for ages 12 to 59 and $5 for ages 60 and over. Admission is half off after 4 p.m. or for groups of 10 or more.  All guests entering the complex are required to pay the admission price. Outdoor food and beverages are welcome.

Season passes are available now at seguintexas.gov/wavepool. A link for the passes along with private pool rentals and swim lessons can also be found on the parks and recreation Facebook page.
