(Guadalupe County) — Here’s an advance warning for commuters who utilize a highway on the county’s east end. The Texas Department of Transportation has announced that a contractor is set to begin a widening and safety improvement project on I-10 between FM 464 and SH 130. They say this project will also include resurfacing operations between SH 123 and SH 130, east of Seguin.

The combined project is set to begin Jan. 8, 2024.

The project awarded to Webber, LLC of New Braunfels will cost $245,194,039 and will consist of reconstructing the main lanes by expanding the existing four lanes to six lanes. The project will also include improvements to entrance/exit ramps, the rehabilitation of existing structures as well as a one way frontage road conversion.

Signage, as well as digital message boards, will be placed in the area to notify the traveling public of the upcoming construction. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route and avoid the work zone, if possible.

The estimated completion date is Fall 2029.
