SEGUIN, TX – On Thursday, September 21, 2023, the Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) celebrated its 11th Annual Business Appreciation Luncheon at the Soel Venue. The event was a heartfelt thank-you to the local business community for their vital role in boosting Seguin's economy and building strong community connections.

The SEDC is committed to supporting Seguin's economic health and treasures its partnerships with local businesses. Carlos Moreno, President of the SEDC Board, shared, "A thriving economy depends on a welcoming environment for new and existing businesses. SEDC is proud to shine a light on businesses that embody this spirit through their outstanding work."

The luncheon featured the Small Business Comes to You Pop Up Shops, showcasing the creativity of local entrepreneurs. Attendees were inspired by Keynote Speaker Rebecca Gehman, a Talent Marketing Consultant, who shared insights into the future of workforce development and talent attraction.

Schulze’s Pit Room provided a delicious meal, making the luncheon a delightful experience. The event also offered a great opportunity for networking and building connections within the local business community.

The highlight of the luncheon was the awards ceremony, honoring individuals, groups, and organizations for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the city of Seguin over the past year:

  • Community Impact Award: CMC Steel Texas, Guadalupe Electric Cooperative (GVEC), and the Caterpillar Foundation were awarded the 2023 Community Impact Award for their contributions to help launch the TX FAME Lone Star Chapter AMT Program.
  • Workforce Champion Award: United Alloy was awarded the 2023 Workforce Champion Award for their dedication to empowering the local workforce through their Youth Apprentice Program.
  • Economic Impact Award: Joan Collum and Stephen Pheigaru of PBC Interests were awarded the 2023 Economic Impact Award for their work on the remarkable transformation of the Seguin Marketplace Shopping Center, formerly known as the Seguin Crossroads Shopping Center.

Josh Schneuker, Executive Director of the SEDC, expressed his gratitude, saying, "We deeply appreciate the invaluable contributions of our local businesses to the City of Seguin.
