The Seguin Police Department is accepting donations for its annual Back to School Backpack Drive to be held on August 5 at the Seguin Coliseum. Last year, approximately 200 children were supplied with backpacks stuffed with school supplies. Seguin PD has set a goal of helping 250 children this year.

A number of donations are being sought, especially clear backpacks, which are required for all middle and high school students in the Seguin ISD. They are also seeking donations of new notebooks, writing instruments and folders.

All donations can be dropped off at the Seguin Police Department, located at 350 N. Guadalupe Street, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. Cash donations can also dropped off at the police station, or made via CashApp to $seguinpd. Donations made by check should be made out to the Seguin Police Department, with a notation on the memo line that the check is for Community Events.

Several local business have already stepped up to help sponsor this year’s campaign. The list of sponsors includes Ewald Kubota, Burnt Bean Co., H-E-B, Simmons Bank and Church’s Texas Chicken.

The 2023 Back to School Event will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5 at the Seguin Coliseum, located at 950 S Austin Street. For questions, send an email to communityengagement@seguintexas.gov.
