Seguin to observe Small Business Saturday with Business Marathon

(Seguin) — In between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Seguin this Saturday, Nov. 26 will be observing Small Business Saturday.

Kyle Kramm, the director of the Seguin Main Street and CVB, says Small Business Saturday is a day to celebrate the small businesses that he believes makes the community an even better place to live, work, play and visit.

“I guess it’s been about 10 years or so that American Express started Small Business Saturday. We have Black Friday, Cyber Monday and so they were saying that our small businesses were being pushed out. So, American Express pushed this Small Business Saturday which is after Thanksgiving and so Seguin has been participating with American Express for Small Business Saturday for many years,” said Kramm.

He says the nationwide movement remains successful in celebrating and supporting small business with special events and promotions across a community. Here in Seguin, Kramm says shoppers will not only get the chance to find a good deal or two, but they just might be able to walk away with a few incentives.

“This year, we are doing a Small Business Marathon and it’s all done through the Visit Seguin app that you can get through the Google Play store or the Apple App store and so what you do is you download the app. You make a profile and as you go from business to business, you check into those businesses. So, we are calling it a marathon so if you go to 13 businesses and check in, you’ve completed a half marathon and you will get a small gift card to a local business. If you go to 26 businesses or more and check in throughout the weekend, you’ll get an even bigger gift card as a reward for completing the marathon,” said Kramm.

Since Small Business Saturday started in 2010, consumers have reported spending an estimated $140 billion across all 11 Small Business Saturdays combined.

Locally, downtown business associations plus chambers of commerce team together annually to support all local shopping through the city’s “Shop Local Shop Seguin” campaign. The groups recently gathered with business owners for their official launch of the 2022 holiday season in downtown Seguin.
