The city of Seguin seeks to find out

(Seguin) — Does Seguin need a new convention space? The Seguin City Council has approved the hiring of a consultant to conduct a needs assessment and a feasibility study for a hotel and conference center in Seguin.

Seguin Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Kyle Kramm says the firm will help to determine if there’s a need for this facility.

“In the fiscal year, 2022 budget, council approved funding for a feasibility study for a conference center, hotel complex and so staff released an RFP (request for proposals) and we received three proposals back and we are recommending going with Convention, Sports and Leisure (CSL). They were the clear frontrunner for us due to price, their forethought of looking into the future and just their completeness of  their proposal but it will take a complete review of our competitors, our current facilities, our current hotels and come up with a recommendation if Seguin can support that and how we fund that — all sorts of locations and it looks like a lot of things,” said Kramm.

The money was already budgeted for this work. The city will pay Convention, Sports and Leisure (CSL) International approximately $70,000 to conduct a market analysis and to provide a feasibility study for the conference center idea.
