At the Seguin Economic Development Corporation’s (SEDC) Regular Called Board Meeting on December 6, 2017, SEDC staff took time to honor outgoing board member, Mr. Leroy Alves, and give a warm welcome to the newest board member, Mrs. Mary Reiley.

Mr. Alves served as the Vice President for the SEDC Board of Director and has served since 2011. Mr. Alves brought a warm spirit, positivity and efficiency to the SEDC Board. During his tenure on the Board, the Seguin Economic Development Corporation has contributed to the creation of hundreds of new jobs, revamped retention efforts, improved workforce development initiatives and so much more. Mr. Alves’ strong leadership and motivation were infectious to the SEDC staff and other board members.

Born and raised in Seguin, Mr. Alves and his wife Mary have two sons- Michael and wife Chrissy and grandson Andy, and son Marc and wife Elizabeth. Mr. Alves started his professional career in banking with Nolte National Bank. Mr. Alves later went on to establish his own business with State Farm Insurance which he ran for 33 years. Mr. Alves is now happily retired and has turned his business over to his son.

The SEDC staff would like to thank Mr. Alves for his dedication and valued contributions to the City of Seguin and the SEDC Board of Directors.

Warmest of Welcomes to SEDC'S New Board Member

In December we welcomed our newest member to the Seguin Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, Mary Reiley. Mary owns Gift & Gourmet, a retail gift shop and online bridal registry business. The 30 plus-year-old and family operated business resides in downtown Seguin where it sells tabletop, jewelry, totes, aromatics, gourmet ware plus more.

Mary has resided in Seguin for 43 years, she and her husband David have two children, Zach and Hannah. When asked what she loves about Seguin, it's the "community mindedness" Seguin resonates.

Mary, we are thrilled you joined us, welcome.
