(Seguin) — It’s either get “crawlin” or get “crackin” at this year’s Pecan Fest Heritage Days. Among the number of activities scheduled for this weekend’s Pecan Fest Heritage Days in downtown Seguin are the annual Hats Off to Juan Seguin Pub Crawl and Get “Crackin” Contest.

Kyle Kramm, Seguin Main Street Program and CVB director, says the Get “Crackin” contest allows folks who think they can shell the most nuts to put those skills to the test.

“Anyone is eligible to participate in our Get ‘Crackin’  Contest. It’s at 1 o’clock on Saturday in Central Park. So, the way it works, is you get two minutes to shell as many pecans as possible. There will be prizes for first, second and third. It’s just a fun two minute competition and whoever can shell the most pecans, gets the prize,” said Kramm.

Nutcrackers will be provided to all contestants. Sign-up is available now at the Seguin Visitors Center located at 200 S. Austin St. or minutes prior to the start of the contest.

Folks from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday are also invited to put on their creative hat and pub crawl to participating bars for drink specials and other fun entertainment. The Hats Off to Juan Seguin Pub Crawl is held in honor of Juan Seguin’s 217th birthday. Check in will be at 1916 Bar & Bistro. First and second place prizes will be given away for most creative hat. Other participating bars that night will include Bar Seguin, Schultz Saloon, Seguin Bar & Billiards, Seguin Brewing Co. and Sips & Gulps.
