Fireworks Fiesta scheduled for tonight
(Seguin) – Seguin will literally be getting more bang for its buck during tonight’s Fireworks Fiesta.

That’s according to Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen who says she can’t wait for the city to experience an even more spectacular event.

“We are going to have four extra minutes on the fireworks this year and you know, every year I say it gets better and better and I don’t quite know what every year is going to bring but this year, there’s going to be several extra minutes. Last year was just incredible. KWED is going to be playing patriotic music again during the fireworks. This is the second year that they’ve done that. We certainly appreciate that. It just gives it a little extra twist. So, our town comes out. People have picnics. They park, open the bed of their trucks, sit on the ground with blankets– it’s just a festive family time the night before actually the July Fourth Parade so that families can enjoy that evening, have a nice evening, get up the next day and have a day of celebration. I will tell you that I went to Disney this year and I know that every night they have four different fireworks, but they were only eight or nine minutes. I have to tell you, ours is a lot better,” said Dodgen.

Residents can catch the best views of the fireworks near the Max Starcke Golf Course and the surrounding area. Fireworks will begin sharply at 9:30 pm. Monday.

Dodgen says it’s thanks to great sponsors that continue to help make Seguin a fireworks destination each Fourth of July.

This year’s fireworks show is being sponsored by H-E-B, Perdue Brandon, FielderCollins&Mott LLP, Attorneys at Law, and Niagara Bottling. Again, during the show, families are invited to tune in to KWED Radio for patriotic music. Folks can listen live on AM 1580 KWED or on their phones, tablets or laptops at SeguinToday.com.
